Why should I work with a parent coach when it's my kid that needs help?

Often we look to therapy to 'fix' our kids that have intense emotional outbursts. What I have learned and personally experienced is that we as parents also have significant power to change the whole dynamic. My goal is to empower parents to make these changes in their home. Here's the trajectory for change: Parent gains understanding of what's happening underneath their child's behavior → Parent responds differently to child's behavior → Relationship between parent and child starts to shift → Child's behavior changes. Let me help with the first two parts of this trajectory and you can watch the last two unfold.

Question 2

What does it mean that I can try before I commit?

I don't charge for the set of six until after the second session. After the first session, if I'm not a fit for your family, you will not be charged at all. There is no financial risk in booking an initial session.

Question 3

What if my child has ADHD, PDA, ODD, or anxiety?

Accepted Answer

If your child's diagnosis presents as intense, seemingly disproportionate emotional reactions to everyday challenges, I may be a strong fit for your family. Because many diagnoses overlap and can look very different from one child to another, I don't limit my work to a single category. I'm deeply passionate about supporting parents of children who are highly sensitive, deeply feeling, or experience big, intense emotions. A note about ADHD: The focus of my work is on helping parents with kids struggling to regulate emotions. We will talk about strategies for inattentiveness and hyperactivity, but if these are the primary struggles (versus intense meltdowns), an executive functioning coach may be a better fit for your family.

How long until I see results?

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. From my experience, two main factors tend to influence how effective this is. The first is the child's age—generally, the younger the child, the faster results tend to appear. The other is how consistently you're able to apply what we discuss. No matter the age, when clients consistently use the tools, most experience meaningful progress during our six weeks together.

What happens at the end of the six sessions?

I work with parents through a structured six-session framework. By the end of six weeks, most families are seeing meaningful change and feel confident using the tools and insights independently, with occasional check-ins as needed. If ongoing support feels helpful, we can schedule bi-weekly or monthly sessions. There is no long-term commitment after the initial six weeks, and individual sessions are always available when you need them.

What ages do you work with?

I work with parents of kids aged 4–8. If your child is older than 8, I can refer you to other resources. If your child is younger than 4, please email me or book a discovery call if you are experiencing intense emotional outbursts and I'll see if I may be a fit.

Do you take insurance?

Unfortunately, as a coach, I am not allowed to accept insurance.

Yes — all sessions are held on Zoom. I'm based in North Carolina in the Eastern Time Zone but can accommodate online parent coaching worldwide. I've served clients from Washington to Germany!
